2021 Season Auditions

Thank you for your interest in auditioning for The Village Carolers. Audition materials are now being accepted, and we will contact singers for an audition in the fall.

You must read the entirety of this page prior to sending your audition materials!

Core members of The Village Carolers will be expected to prepare performance-ready knowledge of our book (containing around 70 works) and full memorization of our standard one-hour set list (about 15 pieces). “Performance-ready” means that on the first verse of each song, you are fully memorized on all of your notes and you are not looking down at your music. Reference to additional verse text is made as needed during performance, but does not mean you are suddenly buried in your book. Many of our selected pieces contain foreign languages, so you must be comfortable singing in languages other than English.

This is a theatrical presentation, not a church job.

We require full availability on weekends and general availability for most evenings during the week for our core group members. We also maintain an auxiliary roster to help fill in scheduling gaps and simultaneous bookings. The auxiliary roster does not require as much weekday/weeknight availability, but you’ll only get as much work as you make yourself available to accept.

Any singer who is not already very familiar with our set list is strongly discouraged from auditioning if they are not going to be available during peak times. We provide practice tracks for learning, but still rehearse extensively in preparation for each holiday season. Going through that time and expense makes no sense if you’re not going to be available for us to book you on gigs.

We are solidly booked during weekends in December, and perform around 50-60 performances each year in total. Our available singers can usually count on at least 8-10 performances per year, and that number has been steadily growing. In 2019, one singer did 25 performances and made thousands of dollars.

If you are interested in auditioning, please send an email to and include a headshot, resume, bio, and a link to audio/video of your solo performance. Please be sure to include all of the requested items, or your audition will not be considered.
