Tenor Orin Strunk is a 2015 graduate of Westminster Choir College, where he received his Master’s Degree in voice performance. He also received his Bachelor’s Degree in 2013 from the same institution. Orin currently studies with Harold Evans. Past voice teachers include Laura Brooks Rice, Lindsey Christiansen, and Tamara Black. Mr. Strunk also studied with Lorraine Nubar while attending Juilliard’s Pre-College Voice Program.
Orin began 2019 as an inaugural young artist in Opera Delaware’s Young Artist Development Program, where he sang the roles of Father Grenville in Dead Man Walking and Counsel for the Plaitiff in Trial by Jury. Mr. Strunk has previously appeared with Opera Delaware in the role of Gherardo, in the co-production of Gianni Schicchi and Buoso’s Ghost. Following Dead Man Walking and Trial by Jury, Mr. Strunk next traveled to Baltimore where he sang Goro in Baltimore Concert Opera’s production of Madama Butterfly.
Shreveport Opera’s Man of La Mancha will mark Orin’s return to the role of Sancho Panza, having first debuted the role in 2019 with Pensacola Opera, also under the direction of Dean Anthony.
Mr. Strunk has performed as a member of the Opera Philadelphia chorus, where he has participated in productions of Cold Mountain, Capriccio, L’elisir d’Amore, and Turandot. Orin was a 2015 and 2016 member of the Janiec Opera Company at the Brevard Music Center, where he debuted the role of Dr. Fowler in the world premiere of J. Mark Scearce’s Falling Angel, under the direction of Dean Anthony.
Orin will next sing the role of Sir Hervey in Baltimore Concert Opera’s production of Anna Bolena. This will mark his 6th production with the company, having previously sung Little Bat in Susannah, Schmidt in Werther, Beadle Bamford in Sweeney Todd, Steuermann in Der fliegende Holländer and Goro in Madama Butterfly.
