2020 Season Auditions

Thank you for your interest in auditioning for The Village Carolers. We will be looking to add a bass located in northern NJ, a bass located in the Philadelphia area, and an alto in the Philadelphia area for the 2020 core roster. Our arrangements are on the low side, so only actual altos should probably apply. We have had two mezzos change to Soprano because the arrangements lie too low for them to sing for long periods of time.

If you are interested in auditioning, please send an email to auditions@thevillagecarolers.com and include a headshot, resume, bio, and a link to audio/video of your solo performance.

Please be sure to include all of the requested items, or your audition will not be considered. Core members of The Village Carolers will be expected to prepare performance-ready knowledge of our book (containing around 70 works) and full memorization of our standard one-hour set list. Many of our selected pieces contain foreign languages, so you must be able to sing in languages other than English.

This is a theatrical presentation, not a church job.

For our core singer list we do require full availability on weekends, and general availability during the week. We are solidly booked during weekends in December, and perform around 40-50 performances each year in total. Our available core members can usually count on at least 8-10 performances per year, and that number has been steadily growing. In 2019, one bass sang 25 performances and made thousands of dollars.

Auditions for the auxiliary carolers (emergency subs, a few low-profile engagements, not the same level of expectation for memorization) will be posted in the late summer 2020.
